Feel your BOOBIES -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Ok so the title is pretty self-explanatory but it is important to give yourself a breast exam or have your significant other to do it for you, LOL... it may save your life and it feels good too! I invite you to join the cause and be aware so us girls can stay healthy. There's a great site promoting awareness call Feel Your Boobies and they're offering a free sticker to help you promote awareness too. Image of the sticker below.
Free Music from Amazon
So I was browsing this website call: Hey, It's Free! and they had a link to free classical music mp3's on amazon.com . I just downloaded the whole album so I can play it for my baby tomorrow during his tummy time. I thought I would share so you all can get it free too! Enjoy!
4:30 AM - Part Deux
As I mentioned last time, our son has this habit of waking up at 4:30am. We tried moving the bedtime between 6pm, 6:30pm, and 7pm. Sometimes, he would even fuss till 7:30pm! Furthermore, we attempted moving the "mid-sleep dream-feed" to 12am, 1am, or 2am. In all cases, he would still wake at 4:30am. The theory is that he was skipping his last sleep cycle (or 2) and deciding to wake up, and then nap at 5:30am. To change this bad habit and encourage a more full sleep, we have started just comforting him back to sleep at that time.
Planning for Halloween
So Allrecipes.com has a lot of great Halloween recipes and I plan to make some of them this year. There's a recipe call "Graveyard Cupcakes" looks really easy and fun. Here's a couple cute pics from Allrecipes.com website:

Nap Extension for my little cat napper.
I'm reading the Baby Whisperer on and off and I really need my son to start napping longer than 45 mins per nap... he takes like 6-8 naps! Once in a while he will go for an hour and half up to two hours. He will be four months in a few weeks and I think it's time to start nap training for him. Don't get me wrong he's a great sleeper and will sleep through the night anywhere from 6-7hrs then I will feed him and he will go back to sleep for another few hours, which is usually a total of 11-12hrs.
Super Duper Pooper Explosion!
Well today was sort of interesting I had to deal with a poop explosion! LOL... ok well this isn't the first poop explosion I've dealt with so far but certainly the worst. My son's poop was a little more runny today and I think it's because he's teething and ingesting a lot more saliva than usual. Anyways the poop shot out the back of the diaper and up his back and under his arms into his armpits. YUCK! It was pretty bad so I had to have bath time early today.
Cradle Cap or Crap I should say!!!
So my son had a small patch of cradle cap around 4 weeks. I got some advice from many old school parents who swore that baby oil was the best way to go. Well here I am and my son is now 3 months old and the baby oil did jack. It would loosen the flakes but they would come back even worse and it even spread to the back of his head! My poor kiddo would dread having me brush his hair every so often to try to get rid of the cradle cap. Soooo...
4:30 AM - The Baby Witching Hour
So our son has started waking up at 4:30am on a fairly regular basis. This is after sleeping about 7 hours, dream fed around 1am, and then sleeps till 4:30. We have tried adjusting the start of his night (6pm, 6:30pm, 7pm), the time of the night feed (midnight, 1am, 2am), yet he still wakes up at 4:30. Some internet searching suggests this behaviour is caused by him waking up during his last sleep cycle. Babies have an approximately 45 minute sleep cycle, followed by 15 minutes of light sleep where they easily wake up.
Introduction
Hi, I'm First Time Dad (FTD), and this is a little corner of the web that FTM and I use to muse on the art of parenting, and raising our wonderful newborn baby boy. Of course, FTM is the greatest wife and mother, and I couldn't be happier. Together, we're reading the books, doing the research, and coming up with a style of parenting to call our own. This website will be an on-going documentation of that effort.
FTM Introduction
Hello all!
Here's a little about me... I'm a FTM (First Time Mom) of newborn baby boy who I adore. I'm married to FTD (First Time Dad) who also will be blogging along with me. He's a wonderful man and I couldn't ask for a better soul mate and best friend. Besides having a son I have two fur babies a.k.a. the stink butts, lol. They're great cats who like to get into trouble now and then.
